Celebrating Womanhood National & Regional Awards 2008
South Asia Partnership International will be joining hands together with Creative Statements in Celebrating Womanhood National and Regional Award 2008. The theme for this year is “Unity in Diversity” This regional award will honor emerging women leaders and build networking among women leaders of the South Asian region. Celebrating Womanhood is based on recognizing the strengths of women and celebrating their achievements despite challenges in their path of success. In this context, we selected countries which still have long way to go in the selected themes. The country specific themes to select women leaders for Celebrating Regional Womanhood Award are as follows:
- CULTURE: Afghanistan
- ENVIRONMENT: Bangladesh
- ECONOMY: Bhutan
- SOCIAL HARMONY: India
- MEDIA: Maldives
- EDUCATION: Nepal
- GOVERNANCE: Pakistan;
- PEACE: Sri Lanka
We are planning to organize the event on beginning of October 2008 in Kathmandu, Nepal. We would like to request you to support this event by nominating women from South Asian counties for the above mentioned category of “Celebrating Womanhood Regional Award.” We also request you to provide your justification for selecting the nominees for the award. We encourage nominations of women who have been working steadily and have made positive changes/impact but have not been really recognized for their contributions. We are hopeful that we will be able to gain your valuable support that will help in achieving our vision of creating a gender balanced society and giving women of South Asia the respect and recognition they rightfully deserve.
